Building Automation Technician

We are seeking an experienced Building Automation Controls Technician to join our team in Florida. This role focuses on commissioning, programming, and servicing building automation systems (BAS), particularly HVAC-related controls. The ideal candidate will have deep BAS experience, a strong understanding of HVAC operations, and the ability to work independently on complex systems. Key Responsibilities:
- Commission, program, and optimize building automation systems (BAS), with a focus on HVAC controls
- Load and modify BAS software and graphics for system functionality and user interface
- Perform system-level diagnostics, troubleshoot software and hardware issues, and implement solutions
- Calibrate and verify operation of temperature, pressure, flow, and humidity sensors and devices
- Conduct point-to-point checkouts, loop tuning, and sequence validation
- Update as-built documentation and commissioning reports
- Coordinate with project managers and engineers to ensure system performance meets design intent
- Provide technical support to clients during and after project handover
- Maintain clear records and project status updates throughout the lifecycle
Qualifications:
Required Experience & Skills:
- 5+ years of direct experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS) with a focus on HVAC applications
- Proficient with BAS platforms such as Alerton, or similar systems (e.g., Tridium, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Automated Logic)
- Strong understanding of HVAC control sequences, building operations, and system integration
- Familiarity with BACnet, MSTP, IP, Modbus, and other BAS communication protocols
- Experience with commissioning tools, front-end software, and control logic programming
- Ability to read and interpret control diagrams, mechanical plans, and sequences of operation
- Strong communication, documentation, and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently across multiple job sites
