New York 100K - 150K Permanent
I’m partnering with my client, a fast-growing cleantech SaaS company focused on reducing energy waste in buildings, to hire a Building Automation Project Manager in the New York metro area. This role blends engineering, building automation, and hands-on field work to ensure client buildings are fully optimized and integrated with their platform. The work directly supports major energy-reduction and decarbonization efforts across NYC.
What You’ll Do:
Visit client buildings to assess mechanical systems, identify optimization opportunities, and scope projects—including energy savings estimates, install requirements, and incentive pathways
Provide technical support during the sales process and help shape project proposals
Lead installation and commissioning from kickoff through completion—overseeing schedules, subcontractors, budgets, and communication
Integrate on-site controls with the cloud platform and verify successful data/communication flow
Serve as the technical authority during final commissioning and customer handoff
Produce drawings, documentation, and close-out materials
Act as a technical escalation point for active buildings, assisting with troubleshooting and performance tuning
Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Product to refine tools, processes, and customer experience
What We’re Looking For:
Engineering background (HVAC, mechanical, electrical, or building automation focus preferred)
5–8 years in MEP engineering, BAS design, controls installation, or commissioning
Strong understanding of HVAC controls and building automation
Comfortable traveling throughout NYC
Excellent communication and coordination skills across clients and internal teams
Self-starter mindset with the ability to learn quickly and thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment
Proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to improve internal workflows
Experience with Niagara Tridium, controls commissioning, or energy retrofit projects is strongly preferred
Why This Role Matters:
You’ll play a key part in scaling a mission-driven company that is actively reducing emissions in multifamily buildings, helping operators cut waste, save money, and reduce their carbon footprint. It’s a high-impact, high-autonomy role during a major growth phase.
Additional Perks:
Comprehensive health benefits
Hybrid schedule (3 days in office + regular on-site building work)
Training allowance for career development
Equity participation
Team culture centered on purpose, sustainability, and innovation
