Position Overview

The Building Automation Control Estimator will play a crucial role in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for building automation projects. The position requires collaboration with internal sales, engineering, and project management teams to support successful project delivery from pre-construction through to execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse project drawings, specifications, and client requirements to develop detailed cost estimates for building automation and HVAC control systems.
• Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to define project scopes and identify design requirements and cost drivers.
• Source pricing for materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
• Prepare structured bid proposals, including scope documentation and pricing breakdowns.
• Conduct site visits or attend pre-bid meetings as needed to gather relevant project data.
• Evaluate technical feasibility and ensure proposed solutions meet applicable standards and customer needs.
• Stay current with new products, technologies, and trends within the building automation industry.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in estimating building automation systems or HVAC controls.
• Proficient in reading mechanical and electrical drawings and control schematics.
• Strong understanding of BMS components and communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and KNX.
• Familiarity with estimation tools and software (e.g., AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Trimble).
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable Skills

• Experience estimating BAS/MEP or construction-related projects.
• Experience with Carrier I-vu systems or Automated Logic WebCtrl
• Knowledge of smart building technologies and energy efficiency strategies.
• Comfortable managing multiple bids simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
